Whiti Te Ra Hou Trust has been set up to encourage a new approach to dealing with New Zealand's serious social problems.
Whiti Te Ra Hou Trust will support initiatives that are aimed at improving the overall well-being and mental health of New Zealanders.
From our mission statement: To promote and encourage programmes and projects whose aim is to improve the mental health of New Zealanders, in particular by raising their self-esteem through:
• Creative enterprises designed to enhance their positive appreciation of Aotearoa New Zealand; and
• Initiatives that will promote their well-being through positive experiences
The millions that are spent yearly addressing these social problems have not resulted in any significant shift in our high rate per capita statistics: suicide, child abuse, incarceration etc.
Whiti Te Ra Hou Trust does not wish to run programmes itself, but supports and encourages projects and programmes aimed at affecting positive change at the most fundamental level for the well being of New Zealanders.
