What does music do for us?
Music is an art imbued with the power to penetrate into the very depths of the soul.
What happens when two very differing musical springs meet in creative dialogue? Celtic traditional music from the northern hemisphere green isles of Ireland has a history reaching back centuries.  For decades this music has been experiencing an extraordinary worldwide revival.
The sounds of the Taonga Puoro (singing treasures) of the Maori, from the southern hemisphere green isles of Aotearoa (New Zealand), are currently experiencing a revival after generations of silence. As ‘portals to the gods’, these sounds haunt our memories and capture the essence of their dramatic country.
In March 2008 a group of some of the world’s greatest Celtic musicians will journey from Ireland to Aotearoa (NZ) to meet, rehearse and tour with New Zealand musicians who are part of the revival of the singing treasures.
The talent amassed for this event provides the potential for something extraordinary to happen.

Filmmakers and poets will accompany this tour and record this dialogue, both on-stage and off, for the production of a feature length documentary.
